Dear colleagues in ministry,
As a leader in your annual conference, you are invited to the Training and Orientation for Annual Conference Leaders in Collegiate Ministry in Nashville, TN, September 12-14 at the Scarritt-Bennett Center. This event is designed for chairs of conference boards of higher education and campus ministry (BHECM), directors of connectional ministry and ministry with young people, as well as cabinet representatives to BHECMs and any others holding leadership positions that impact collegiate ministry in an annual conference. This year, echoing last year’s training, the theme is “The Wisdom of Speaking Well.” Modules include:
- Telling the Story of Collegiate Ministry
- Creating, Training, and Managing Local Boards of Directors
- Fundraising and Development Strategies
- Managing and Developing New Programs and Initiatives
- Conducting Effective Assessment and Evaluations
The training will include coverage of the disciplinary elements related to BHECMs and collegiate ministry and, most importantly, how to tell the story of collegiate ministry in such a way as to encourage fuller engagement between annual conferences, local churches, and college-age ministry programs. Please note that the priority registration deadline is August 12. Registration is $200 and includes housing, meals, and materials. For more information and registration visit http://bit.ly/2925c13.
I also want to make you aware of a new resource from our office. “The Prophetic Voice and Making Peace” is a collection of theological and practical essays written by campus ministers, chaplains, and staff of GBHEM about five areas where campus ministry is having or must have an impact on the lives of young people. We invite you to consider reading this and sharing it broadly. It is available on Amazon and from Cokesbury.
We hope to see you in Nashville! If you have questions about the program, please contact me. If you have questions or require further information, please contact Steffie Misner: firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you have received this message in error or no longer serve in your Annual Conference, please forward this message to the correct person and please let us know who we should contact in the future.
